Sora Shelf Talkers

School advantage accounts include the option to add Shelf Talkers in Sora. You must have a school advantage account to use this feature.

Check this list to find out if you have a school advantage account.

What is a Shelf Talker?

Shelf Talkers are notes that you can add to the materials in your Sora advantage collection. You can set dates for the Shelf Talker to begin and end.

This video shows what it looks like from the student perspective:

The Shelf Talker is only visible in the Sora app and will not appear in LS2 PAC.

You can use shelf talkers to share extra information about titles in your collection. Shelf talkers appear on title details screens in Sora.

There are four types of shelf talker you can create: recommendations, trivia, favorite quotes, and thoughts. See examples of each type of shelf talker.

Note: If an Advantage account adds a shelf talker to a title, their Advantage users won't see the shared collection's shelf talker (if one exists for the same title). If a title doesn't have an Advantage shelf talker, or if you remove the shelf talker, Advantage users will see the shared collection's shelf talker (if one exists).

Adding shelf talkers

  1. Sign into OverDrive Marketplace.
  2. Run a search in the Shop or Curate section.
  3. Click Shelf talker next to a title.

  4. Choose a shelf talker type, then enter your note in each language you offer.
  5. (Optional) Select Schedule note to choose a start and end date for your shelf talker.
  6. (Optional) Select Attribute note to add a name, location, and photo for the shelf talker's creator.
  7. Click Publish.

Removing shelf talkers

If you scheduled your shelf talker, it will be automatically removed from Libby or Sora on your end date. If you didn't schedule your shelf talker, you can remove it by selecting Delete note at the bottom of the "Shelf talker" window.
