Over the full school year, multiple challenges were available to all schools. Individual school managers may have chosen to include additional challenges at their schools as well. Completion requirements are customized to each challenge, and each reader can complete multiple challenges. A school can increase challenge completions by increasing the number of available challenges and by increasing the number of readers who complete the challenges.

Completion Rate is constructed by dividing the number of Challenge Completions by the number of students enrolled. This computation equalizes the capacity of smaller schools in comparison with larger schools so we can see that small schools such as Keolu Elementary are reading, too. Kaimukī Middle School still tops the list!

Participation Rate is constructed by dividing the number of readers who logged minutes by the number of students enrolled. Readers Who Logged may include students and staff There are students and staff who complete literacy activities or write book reviews without logging their reading minutes, but these users are not included when computing Participation Rate. A school can increase the participation rate by getting more students and teachers to log their reading minutes.

Total Minutes Logged includes reading minutes logged by students and staff with no adjustments. A school can increase Total Minutes Logged by increasing the number of readers who log minutes and by increasing the number of minutes each reader logs.

Readers Who Logged Minutes includes students and staff with no adjustments. This number cannot exceed the total number of students enrolled plus staff employed at the school.

Readers Who Completed Activities shows the number of distinct users who completed at least one activity between August 4, 2021 and May 26, 2022. Schools could increase this number by offering more challenges that include literacy activities and by promoting the activity badges.

Average Minutes Logged per Students is computed by dividing the number of Total Minutes Logged by the number of enrolled students. Total Minutes Logged includes minutes logged by staff as well, but we do this computation to equalize the data across schools of different sizes. Although Kaimukī Middle had more students who completed challenges and a higher challenge completion rate, Keaukaha Elementary readers logged more minutes per student on average.
