What makes Hawaiʻi special?
Is it the waterfalls? The surf? The rainbows? The food? The people? The aloha spirit? Itʻs all of these and more!
#HiReads offers badges that celebrate the things that come together to make Hawaiʻi a unique and wonderful place to live, learn, and grow.
Participating readers will earn badges representing the diverse foods, activities, and environment in Hawaiʻi, as well as connect with friends at their school to share book reviews and complete fun activities with their ʻohana, all centered around reading.

Aloha ʻOhana,
#HiReads is a reading challenge that offers all HIDOE students and their families a fun way to learn and share about reading. When students read and log minutes in #808Reads, they earn electronic badges celebrating some of the special things about Hawaiʻi.
They can also share their reading progress and opinions with friends and see what and how much their friends have been reading.
Students log in with Clever or go to 808Reads.hidoe.us and choose their school from the list, then log in with their student ID number and birthdate (mmddyy).
But guess what? Family members can register, too, by choosing Administration and Community! We challenge you to read at least 20 minutes every day and log your reading. Reading together can reinforce your own reading fluency, lower your blood pressure, and strengthens family relationships while showing keiki that reading is important to you.
Take the #HIReads challenge today!
