How does the Hold Shelf interface work?

In LS2 v4.2 release 40, the following is now the new workflow for the Holds Shelf.

1.  Requests have been renamed to Holds.

2.  Options to cancel a hold, print an Arrived Hold Slip, or send an Arrived Hold notification are all available. The option to filter items with pending holds, or narrow the Holds Shelf to items shelved more than X days, is also available.

On the Holds Shelf, shown in the image above, the Borrower link now opens the Current Holds  tab for the borrower’s account under Borrower Services. The Title  link opens the Titles & Items  page for the title and the Item ID link displays the item details on the Titles & Items page.

The View Holds Queue
symbol opens the Holds Queue  for the title.

3.  Holds Queue enhancements:  Through the Holds Queue, the list of all borrowers with holds for the same title, you can now suspend a hold, or advance the borrower to the top of the pending holds list. Whether using the

Actions drop-down in Staff Services > Titles & Items, clicking the View Holds Queue from the Holds Shelf, or using the  Borrower Services >  Holds > Current Holds under the borrower’s account, you have access to the Holds Queue.

4.  Current Holds enhancements:  Changes made to the Current Holds  tab for the borrower’s account under Borrower Services > Holds now allows suspension of individual holds or all holds for a borrower. Under Current Holds, for any holds with a Pending status you can cancel holds, print an Arrived Hold slip, or change the Pickup location. For each item you can open the title in Titles & Items  or open the Holds Queue. The Position column, displayed in the Holds Queue, clearly indicates the borrower’s position in the queue.

5. Placing a hold generates a message: In addition to the pop-up message displayed when a hold is placed in LS2 Staff, a message is now sent to the Message Queue, removing the need for immediate staff action.
